Architect-designed Ex-council House in Glasgow Extensively Refurnished.

Architect-designed ex-council home undergoes extensive internal alterations with interior design.

Situation:

The original layout of the house posed functional challenges: the bathroom lacked space for a shower, the main bedroom was connected to the living room, a dropped ceiling in the hallway created a dim ambiance, and a partition divided a two-bed space. Our task was to re-configure the cramped, dark ex-council house into a functioning, modern family home through enhances functionality and aesthetic appeal.

Action:

We removed the partition, creating an open-plan kitchen dining area and introduced an en-suite to the main bedroom. Embracing the principle of “less is more”, we eliminated two small and awkward bedrooms, allowing for the creation of a superior and more efficient bedroom and bathroom layout. Clever design means you don’t always have to extends to create additional space!

Result:

Given the constraints of limited space, we totally re-designed the internal layout. The kitchen was strategically positioned along the back wall to optimise space, while a high utility unit was integrated to enhance storage efficiency. Recesses and niches were designed for additional storage, including a bench seat at the dining room table with built-in storage compartments. The revamped layout not only maximised functionality but also created a sense of openness and aesthetic appeal, completely transforming the house into a unique and inviting environment.
